Vancouver Island is world famous for its salmon.

The Alberni Inlet is one of the best sites in the world for sockeye salmon fishing. The Port Alberni fishing derby is one of the annually attractions in the area.
However there are all kinds of salmon.

The biggest and maybe most wanted salmon is the Chinoock (Spring or King). It weighs 60 lbs and more.
The Sockeye is possibly the most delicious. It weighs between 5-15 lbs. Then there is the Coho, which also weighs between 5-15 lbs and the Pink salmon, that weighs 3-6 lbs.
In additon there are also Halibut, Lingcod and Red Snapper for those looking for variety.

Fishing trips can be organised with one of our power boats or with the help of a charter service.

For self equipped fisherman with their own power boats, the Kildonan Cannery Lodge offers safe moorage.



A fishing license costs 14 CAD a day. Children under 16 need no license.
